Deep Detail: Scrubbing The Rough Out Of A Garage-Stored Olds Toronado
I can’t say it enough: I can’t stand seeing a car just sitting. Not in a museum, not in a barn, not in a garage, not in a field. Why is that? There are horror stories about the vehicles I owned during my deployments that were stored away for months at a time out in the open for no reason. First, it’s the dust. Then it’s the fuel going wrong, the rodents start hunting for a home, the tires die, the engine bay becomes a Habitrail, and the next thing you know some YouTuber is showing up with their cameras asking if they can do a revival. I don’t understand why someone would sock a car away for years, even decades, and not want to use it.
That’s why I love seeing the work that Larry from Ammo NYC does to these forlorn finds. This Olds Toronado is a perfect example of what I mean. The car has obviously been cared for throughout it’s life, but one day it went into the garage and didn’t come back out. It stayed there, collecting dust and providing a home for rodents until the owner’s son decided to bring it out and bring it back to life. Look at the details on this car. Look at the paint. The work that Larry and some extra friends of his do to this Olds is amazing…they take the dusty garage car and turn it back into a jewel. Look at the “after” view of the car and help me understand why it sat so long in the first place.
