Open-top

The Ferrari 296 GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) features a folding hard top roof. The open top version tips the scales at 1 540 kg, versus 1 470 for the coupe GTB. The roof or RHT (retractable hard top) takes 14 seconds to raise or lower, which can be done at speeds of up to 45 km/h. The RHT roof splits into two sections that fold flush over the front of the engine.

Twin-turbocharged V6

Under that cover is the same 2,9-litre engine as the 296 GTB. The V6 motor features twin turbochargers in the  ‘V’ of the block. There is also an electric component to the drivetrain, as a result the 296 GTS is a hybrid. The hybrid elements allow for full-electric driving of 25 km. Speeds of up to 135 km/h are possible in full electric mode.

More info about the 296 GTB can be found here.

Total system output is 610 kW along with maximum torque of 740 N.m. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The Ferrari 296 GTS can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2,9 seconds, which is identical to the GTB. The zero to 200 km/h sprint is fractionally slower at 7,6 seconds, while top speed is quoted as greater than 330 km/h.
