This Looks To Be The Hardcore Version Of Ferrari’s SF90 Stradale

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is already one of the most powerful and quickest production cars on the market but that hasn’t stopped the Italian marque from readying a hardcore variant.

Ferrari has been spied testing a host of mysterious SF90 Stradale prototypes in recent months and was most recently seen putting a lightly camouflaged one through its paces at the Fiorano test circuit.

Limited official details about the car are known but it is currently being referred to as the Ferrari SF90 VS or Versione Speciale. Immediately making this prototype stand out from the current SF90 is the camouflage across the front fascia that appears to be sporting a more pronounced splitter to aid in the car’s aerodynamics. While not visible on this prototype, one tester snapped in late October was also rocking a unique set of side skirts.

With the exception of some tape and testing equipment, the rear of this SF90 prototype appears unchanged. However, that won’t be the case for the finished production model as various aerodynamics changes will be made to the rear of the hybrid supercar. Indeed, we have previously seen a prototype sporting an elongated tail, perhaps suggesting Ferrari could take a leaf out of McLaren’s playbook with its hardcore ‘Long Tail’ models.

Ferrari will inevitably make some upgrades to the SF90’s powertrain to make it even more rapid. The extent of these changes remain a mystery but slightly increases in horsepower and torque seem likely, ensuring the car pumps out more than the current 986 hp. More extensive use of carbon fiber should also help the car shed some weight, further aiding in its performance.

It is not yet known when the Ferrari SF90 Versione Speciale will be ready to hit the road but we expect it to be launched sometime next year.
